Here is the link to the Provincial game schedule in August:
http://www.ontariolacrossefestival.com/content/2012NoviceProvincialSchedule.pdf
Oakville Novice 2 Hawks are in Group 3 with 3 other "B" teams: Mimico Novice 1, Owen Sound and Windsor. We will have to place first or second in our Group in order to advance to the single elimination round.
Our first game will be against Owen Sound, then Windsor and then against Mimico 1.
These teams in our group are currently ranked as follows:
Mimico 1 ranked 8th
Owen Sound ranked 14th
Windsor ranked 25th
Oakville Novice 2 is ranked 27th
When the detailed schedule is published with game dates, times and arena locations, it will be e-mailed to each parent.
The schedule is in and we now know our opponents in Nepean on July 20th. We are in a B/C Division which includes 5 teams: Nepean Knights 1, Peterborough Lakers 2, Brampton Excelsiors 2, Cornwall Celtics and the Hawks.
Only two of the five teams make it to the final Championship game. Here is the Manager's opinion of our chances: We have beaten Cornwall, and tied Brampton, so we should win both those games, if we avoid the dreaded TO's. We have to be on our game against Cornwall, since they did beat Whitby 2 at the West Durham Tournament.
The Nepean Knights 1 team is very good and are currently ranked 15th in Ontario, just ahead of the Whitby 2 team. That will be a tough game for the Hawks. The Peterborough Lakers 2 team are ranked 31st and are unknown to us, since they haven't played any common opponents.
All that said, we have a good shot at first or second place and should be playing in the big game at noon on Sunday.
Go Hawks go!
As some of the Redbird players were filing out of the Arena after the game, the Coach was overheard telling them that "at least they didn't score ten goals on us this time".
The Hawks were not as dominant in this game due to the dreaded TO's, but they won nonetheless. The final score of 6 to 1 seemed to make the Newmarket team happy that this game was closer than the last one (10 to 2). The Hawks add to the win column, but need to focus on eliminating the TO's, if they are to be successful in games against the stronger clubs, such as Mimico, Orangeville and Brampton. As an example, in the recent Guelph Tournament championship game between Mimico and Orangeville, the TO's were Orangeville 1, Mimico 2, and the winning goal by Orangeville was scored on a Mimico TO.
Dan Dawson's Revival Lacrosse Camp returns to Oakville on July 2nd. This camp is already advertised on the Mississauga Tomahawks Website, and it will fill up fast. Go to the following link to get registered for this camp. Based on our previous experience, this camp is excellent:

IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN. WHAT MATTERS MOST IS HOW MANY TIMES YOU GET BACK UP AND REFUSE TO QUIT. THAT'S HAWKS LACROSSE!
