There may be ups and downs as the Team develops it's skills and work ethic; however, Never lose your focus on the Team's ultimate goal on August 10th 2012.

The May 10th Orangeville game

05/12/2012, 7:40am (EDT)
By Brian Walsh, Team Manager

This game will stay in the old memory bank for a while. While the game had its thrills and excitement, so did the drive to get to the orangeville Arena. That traffic nightmare which closed down the main stretch of highway into Orangeville left us starting the game without a Head Coach, Manager, and several players. Gotta hand it to Coach Chris-he got the boys ready, prepared the Team Lineup for the Scorers, and maintained cell phone contact with the Head Coach until he arrived.

That adversity aside, when the full complement of players and staff were on hand, they were determined to focus on the Orangeville Northmen, who are one of the top lacrosse organizations in Ontario. They are used to winning regularly, especially in their home arena.

The Hawks must have caught the Northmen off guard, and not expecting the Hawks to "bring it", because we scored a quick first goal, and let them know that we didn't drive all the way here to lay back and "take it".

As the game progressed, the Northmen took us a little more seriously and moved into the lead. In the third period, with a full bench, the Hawks shifted the momentum until the final four minutes. With just under 4 minutes to play and down a goal, the Hawks were called for a 4 minute penalty. Lights out, right?

Wrong! The Hawks found their true grit and took it to the Northmen. Two shorthanded goals later, and the Hawks snatched victory from almost certain defeat. Now that's Hawks tenacity and "never say die" attitude. Gotta love em! Hawks 5 Northmen 4 :)

Season Schedule of games

04/18/2012, 12:08pm (EDT)
By Brian Walsh, Team Manager

The schedule has not been published in it's entirety, but we now have the first two weeks of games, and they have been added to the Calendar.

Thursday May 3rd at home (Glen Abbey) against Mimico

Thursday May 10th in Orangeville (Tony Rose A Arena)

That's a tough start for us, since these teams are highly ranked and always give us a real challenge. Hawks will have to rise to the challenge early this season.

Revival Lacrosse Camp in Oakville July 2nd to July 5th

Dan Dawson's Revival Lacrosse Camp returns to Oakville on July 2nd. This camp is already advertised on the Mississauga Tomahawks Website, and it will fill up fast. Go to the following link to get registered for this camp. Based on our previous experience, this camp is excellent:

Respect in Sports

Every member of the Teams staff must be certified in the "Respect in Sports" program. The on-line course is not only useful for Staff, it can be a great aid for parents and players.

This course covers everything from prevention of bullying, Harrassment, Abuse, to tips on enhancing the Fun for kids, in sport.

I highly recommend this to anyone involved in minor sports.

If anyone has an interest in checking it out, the following link will take you to the site. Unfortunately, Lacrosse doesn't have a dedicated agreement with the Respect in Sports organization, so we are required to sign  in through a Hockey link.

Playing the game the "Hawks" way

IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU GET KNOCKED DOWN. WHAT MATTERS MOST IS HOW MANY TIMES YOU GET BACK UP AND REFUSE TO QUIT. THAT'S HAWKS LACROSSE!
