Nominations for positions on the Executive Committee (Officers) are to be forwarded in writing or email to the President of the OMLA seven (7) days prior to the Annual meeting. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor, at the Annual meeting. Once all nominations for all elected officers of the Executive Committee have been received, voting by ballot on each office will be taken until all officers are elected. If only one person has been nominated or proposed for any position, that office will be filled by acclamation. Non Elected Volunteer Positions (Members of the Board of directors) Volunteers for the following positions will be appointed to the board of directors at the direction of the newly Executive Committee. Volunteers are not required to become members of the board. However to qualify as a board member you must volunteer for one or more of the positions noted below. Thus far volunteers have stepped up to fill the positions of Head Timekeeper, House League Trainer Coordinator, Rep Convener (Box), Rep Convenor (Boys Field), Assistant Director Girls Field, Tournament Director, Team Photo Day Coordinator, Equipment Director and Communications Director. The following volunteer (non elected) positions remain to be filled. · Club Scheduler – interfaces with the Town of Oakville to book facilities for all OMLA games, practices & activities via preparation of proposal to Town staff prior to beginning of season. · Associate Schedulers – one each for boys house league, boys rep, boys field and girls field to assist club scheduler in coordinating requirements for each area and double checking accuracy of town bookings. · Associate Registrars – one each for boys and girls to assist Registrar with processing of player registrations to the Ontario Lacrosse Association. · Volunteers for Registration Days – various duties (accepting player and coach registrations, processing fees, assisting new member with completion of forms etc) during scheduled registration days (4). · Referee Scheduler – schedules referees for league games , assists Referee in Chief with administration of referees’ compensation · Boys House League Convenors & Associate Convenors (Peanut, Tyke, Novice, Peewee, Bantam & Midget Divisions) – Co-ordinate one day player assessments, oversee player assignments to teams in their respective divisions, insure games begin and finish on time, supervise games to insure safety of participants, prepare game sheets, forward completed games sheets to league office and update team results /standings on division page of OMLA website. · Girls House Convenor – same duties a boys house league convenors. · Communications Committee Volunteers – one each for boys rep, boys house league and girls assist Communications director in administration of OMLA website for their respective areas. · Equipment Committee Volunteers – one each for boys house league, boys rep (box & field) and Girls Field; assist equipment director with determing requirements for their repective areas, co-ording distribution of equipment and uniforms and follow of up of any outstranding issues. · Sponsorship & Fundraising Director – solicits general sponsors for OMLA, administors fundraising and sponsporship policies to be followed by individual rep teams. We need and very much look forward to you helping us make the 2012 OMLA season the best one yet. “Nothing happens until someone volunteers”!!!!
Tournament Volunteers – volunteer committee members assist tournament director with organizing and running of the end of the season Gala house league tornament for boys and girls respectively.
The OMLA membership is large (900+ players) and growing. We require the above noted volunteers to assist in providing our players, coaches and team officials with an efficient organization and structure to support their participation in our sport.
It is not necessary to have a background in or extensive knowledge of Lacrosse. All that is required is a desire to help kids, cheerfulness, co-operative spirit and positive attitude. It is fun, rewarding and whatever you need to know is easily learned.
