Girls Field Lacrosse Registration Information

2012 Oakville Lady Hawks Girls Field Lacrosse Programs

Our program began in 2010 with Under 11 and Under 15 divisions.  For the 2011 season, we expanded to include a Mini-Hawks program introducing girls to the sport of girls field lacrosse at a younger age, an Under 13 division as an intermediary developmental step to Under 15 and an Under 19 division.

Based on the successes of this expansion and feedback from families, all five divisions will be running for the 2012 season.   Please see chart below for age divisions and birth years.

Pre-Season clinic dates and times by division as well as a tentative schedule is listed below.   Our House League season will run from Monday, April 30th through to the culminating Gala Evening on Wednesday, June 27th for a total of 16 weeks when combined with the pre-season clinics!

Rep programs will run from Monday, April 30th through to the first or second week of August depending on the age division.  Please see the rep button for more information.

Please contact Darlah Cordingley or Tanya Tymkiv (contact information below) if you are interested in supporting our rapidly growing organization through volunteer support (e.g. convenor, assistant coach, team manager, umpiring, volunteering, etc.)

Pre-Season Clinics DOUBLE the Girls Field Lacrosse Season!

Included in the cost of your registration are the pre-season clinics for Girls registered in the Lady Hawks Girls Field Lacrosse program. Clinics will run for 8 weeks prior to the season beginning providing the girls with an opportunity to learn and practice in a dry indoor facility before we hit the fields the first week of May.  The chart with dates and times for the different divisions is to below.  Some weeks we only have one field and some weeks there are two fields.  So please be sure to record these dates and the times and be sure to attend!  All clinics will be held at the Burloak Sports Centre indoor fields.

The pre-season clinics have been a tremendous opportunity for our Oakville Lady Hawks to get their sticks moving, learning and practicing well before the season starts.  In the first few weeks of pre-season clinics beginner players will be separated from experienced players so that comfort level is established as well as some basic skills.  The volunteer coaches will monitor and assess each girls' progress and development to determine when they can be integrated with more experienced players.

Each clinic will engage girls in fun skill-based development activities and drills so that learning lacrosse is both fun and challenging at the same time.  Last year, we had the expertise of our own coaches supporting pre-season clinics as well as the Edge girls field lacrosse team and Team Canada's Under 19 girls also running a clinic.  This experience was inspiring and rewarding for the Oakville Lady Hawks and they learned so much.

Girls are required to wear running shoes or cleats, goggles and a mouthguard.  A girls field lacrosse stick is also required.  A girls field stick is different from a regular lacrosse stick used by boys.  Please check out our Equipment link for more information on girls field sticks.
