2012 Lady Hawks Win THREE Provincial Medals!!

The 2012 Women's Field lacrosse season has continued to highlight the growth of Oakville's Lady Hawks program and the continued growth and development of its coaches and players at U11, U13, U15 and U19.

This season our Under 11 team, coached by Crystal Robinson and Alyse Newsome just slipped out of medal contention, but these girls had such tremendous growth over the season, that we know they have a bright future in the sport.

On Sunday, August 5th, our U15 Lady Hawks coached by Laura McLauglin, Brent Harwood and Darlene Zolis topped off a successful season with the SILVER medal in the B division!  We're excited to follow this group of girls in the coming years.

The following weekend in Oshawa, U19 and U13 continued the hard work and determination.  Under 19 Lady Hawks, coached by Jackie Noble and Sean Doyle won the GOLD medal in the C division.  This team was just formed last year and in the span of two seasons, the players have experienced tremendous growth and topped it off with this incredible accomplishment.  Oakville U19 is on the map and is raring to go for the next season!

The day finished off with the Under 13 Lady Hawks winning the BRONZE medal in the A division placing this group of young girls as third in the province.  Coached by Bryanne Gilkinson, Tanya Tymkiv, Liz Heidecker and Dave Eckert, the coaches couldn't be more proud of this group of athletic young individuals and know that this championship was well deserved.  Be sure to follow this group of girls as they continue to grow and develop in the sport!

All eyes are on Oakville and their continued success in developing a solid organization and women's field lacrosse program!

Late Goal Earns 2011 U15 Lady Hawks Provincial Bronze!

Aurora Cordingley took a pass from Marley Higgs and scored the winning goal with 23 seconds to play as the Oakville under-15 Lady Hawks edged Kitchener- Waterloo 8-7 to win the bronze medal at the provincial field lacrosse championships in Whitby.

Just in their second year of play, the Lady Hawks had eight players playing up one age group so that Oakville could field an under-15 team and had several newcomers to the sport.

But in the bronze medal game they had everyone contributing with seven different players scoring goals, led by Thalia Zolis, who scored a pair. Also scoring were Paige Strychaluk, Erin Murray, Bridget Doyle, Rachel Bolland and Emily Cummings. Meanwhile, Rebekah Keene made several key saves in the final minutes to give Oakville the chance to score the winner.

Oakville opened the tournament with a 9-2 loss to Six Nations, which went on to win the gold medal by beating Orillia in the final. Zolis and Doyle had the Hawks’ goals.  Oakville bounced back with a 9-6 victory over Owen Sound with Cordingley scoring four times. Zolis also had a hat trick and Murray had the Lady Hawks’ other two goals. Natasha Beaudoin recorded the win in net.  Zolis had the lone goal as Oakville fell 10-1 to Orillia.
