IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CROSSES

UNDER ARMOUR CROSSES

We have learned that 'Under Armour Crosses' are now available for sale here in Canada. We checked the FIL Legal Crosse list, have clarified with Susie Ganzenmuller (FIL Women's Sector Rules Committee Chair) and have discovered that these are not legal for play in Canada or outside the USA.

Please advise all your players and parents immediately of this development, to avoid any potential upset at OWFL games this year.

DEBEER GRIPPER POCKETS
Dear FIL / OWFL Member,
There were problems with the DeBeer Gripper (two piece) pocket at the FIL 2011 U19 Women’s World Championship.
The DeBeer Gripper pocket will remain legal until December 31, 2012.
From 1 January 2013, the DeBeer Gripper pocket will be NOT be a legal FIL pocket.
This information has been included on the Approved crosses list which can be found at http://www.filacrosse.com/?fileid=equipment

Kind regards
Shelley Maher

Crosses (sticks)

At an OWL Special General Meeting held on January 18, 2004, club members approved the following CLA Recommendation:

"As of January 1, 2005, only sticks that have been approved by the IFWLA will be allowed in the in CLA sanctioned events."

The IFWLA has been superceded by the FIL.  The official FIL APPROVED CROSSES is continually updated and can be viewed below.

Sticks should be about 90-110 cm in length from the end of the head to the butt end.  Which end of the range will depend on the size of your daughter. For our smaller girls (Mini-Hawks and U11), the sticks can be smaller than the 90 cm in length.  Take the butt end and place it under your daughter's armpit and stretch her arm along the shaft.  The distance between the end of her fingers and the end of the head could be taken off the stick to be a more manageable size to work with.

Protective Eyewear

Protective eyewear (goggles) must be worn by players in the Oakville Lady Hawks.  As a guideline for purchasing goggles, the list of goggles approved by Oakville Lady Hawks is provided in the document below.

Balls

For U-11 play, the Oakville Lady hawks currently use the Warrior Soft Ball.  All other levels should refer to the information below.
